Hi there! Remember this color? And this yarn?
I originally started out to make a knitted cap to match my knitted fingerless gloves, however, they all wanted to knit in the round, and I didn’t have the right sized needles for the patterns.
The bobby pin is my stitch/row marker. |
I decided to search for crochet caps and found a free pattern here that seemed cute.
Where the pattern starts to turn into a curved hat. |
The hat done, except for the brim. |
Starting the brim. |
I mostly followed the pattern, but I lost track of my count and had a few extra stitches, so I made some illegal (read: made up my own stitch) decreases.
My big ole noggin. |
It’s not perfect because the decreases made larger holes than I would have liked. The pattern has you make two brims and stitch them together for strength and stability. I decided to only make one brim because it was stiff enough for my needs. We’ll see how it holds up!
Completed brim. |
I'm also not savvy enough to change colors like the original one does, so mine is all one color.
You can see the brim has a little ridge- I like that part. |
I really enjoyed this project and I was able to complete it in a night. My hubby was certainly impressed and likes it on me.
Me, trying to be mysterious! |
What do you think? Would you make one?

Following from chicnsavvy's tuesday blog hop. :)
I'm certainly impressed. I can crochet in a super limited sense of being able to make a scarf or a belt. Anything more complicated than that starts confusing me.
Cute! Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for your comment on my blog! Your idea to use skeleton keys would be so adorable with the journal clasp!
I look forward to reading your blog :)

Great job! I have been trying to crochet the same blanket for over a year now. I'm such a slacker, but everytime I see someone else's creations, I get motivated to try again!
Thanks for the inspriation.

Cute! I'm a new follower from the Sunday Scoop Link Party.
I am in the process of teaching myself to crochet. So far, I'm having a lot of trouble keeping the look consistent and the jury's still out as to whether or not I'm doing the stitches right, but practice makes perfect, right? LOL
Love this post!
