33 Weeks: Ups and Downs.

Well, this week has definitely had it's ups and downs. It's late at night, and I don't feel like going into much detail about it all, but we have striven hard to stay "level." I am very thankful for our family's support and most of all, that I have such a wonderful husband. In our worst and best moments, we know that we always have each other.

The Bump and Baby Center say this about Week 33:

33 weeks chalkboard.
  • “She weighs about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches.
  • And she may grow up to a full inch this week -- amazing.
  • She's keeping her eyes open while awake.
  • She's also starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing.
  • Her bones are hardening.
  • And she’s going through (more) major brain development -- that's one smart baby!”

Size of a Durian. What is this?! (source)
“She's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. The bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as her brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Pregnancy Tracking Questions

How far along: 33 weeks.
Size of Baby: 4-5 pounds,
Sleep: Waking at least twice for the bathroom!
Maternity clothes: Trying to make my wardrobe look like it has some variety.
Stretch marks: Not yet.
Wedding Ring: Got so tight this week, I decided to switch rings. See the picture?
Things bought/given: We decided on the Bebe Confort pram/stroller. We also bought be an exercise ball for me to sit on.
Me at 33 weeks.
Best moment this week: Having a job interview for a very small part-time job. In my field. And going to an outdoor concert for Freshly Ground at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Worst moment this week: Getting some sad news about my father-in-law, who is in hospice.
Movement: Still going strong. Hubby got to feel her several times this week.
Miss anything: I was really wishing I could have some salmon sushi.
Cravings: Cold water.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Belly button in or out: In for now! If I lean really far forward, it is pushing outward, but goes back inside when I sit normally.
New Aches and Pains: My feet didn’t seem as tender this week, however, I sat one day for 5-6 hours with little movement, and I really noticed that they were swelling. I made sure to walk around for at least half an hour and they started to feel better. I also chugged a bottle of water because of dehydration, and I think that helped my feet as well.
Braxton Hicks: None yet.
Looking forward to: Meeting our little girl.

Song of the Weekend: Doo-Be-Doo by Freshly Ground. They sang this song as their encore at the concert we went to.

The Durian is an absolutely DISGUSTING fruit that smells so badly that it is often not allowed in homes.

Apparently it tastes better than it smells. But I'm unclear on that.

Sorry about the news of your father in law.
Not long to go now...
I hadn't heard of "Freshly ground" before, but I like the song you posted.

Deidre is so right, I can't eat Durian because of the smell. But that aside, look at you! You truly are glowing!
